A film about courage, inclusion, and the strength to break new ground
Jonathan “Jonny” Schüddekopf fights courageously—not only against his disability, but also for inclusion. When the young teacher had to go into isolation for health reasons at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, he didn’t consider giving up his job. He wanted to continue being there for his students. However, parents and fellow teachers at his Waldorf school in Berlin are grappling with the question of whether Jonathan can and is allowed to continue practicing his profession. A school that embraces inclusion is faced with a challenge of sorts. The boundaries between ideal and reality come into focus.
JONNY ISLAND follows Jonathan’s journey to Sweden, to the Arctic Circle, and back to Germany.
